For the third year in a row, the NBU Development Charitable Fund for Children participates in the Meet and Code initiative.

Which popularizes the latest IT technologies among young people, promotes digitalization in Ukraine. The Meet and Code initiative is funded by SAP Corporation, which provides support and resources to non-profit organizations. In our country, it is implemented by the GURT Resource Center, which is a partner of the TechSoup Global Network.

This year, we are conducting all our initiatives online on the Zoom platform. During the first virtual meeting on September 22, the participants of the three-day #Digital_Skills_Online event studied the components of robotics using the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 and LEGO Mindstorms constructors. Librarian and trainer Nataliya Horbenko virtually introduced children to various LEGO constructors and showed in a video presentation which robots can be made from them. Also, during the master class, the children created a "Frog" model using the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 constructor, which was then programmed.

The second and third day of the seminars were conducted by professionals from the GoITeens IT school. They were aimed at raising and developing schoolchildren's interest in programming, practical and useful applications. The Scratch class was conducted by Yulia Maksimets, a computer science teacher and trainer of the eKids program for teenagers from the EPAM company. Together with her, the children created their own interactive game about a visit to the library in search of the Book of Knowledge using block programming. Mykhailo Maksymov, teacher of KhNU named after Karazina, the author of the Python program at GoITeens, introduced the children to the Python programming language, explained where it is used, its advantages and features, the children learned what variables are, how to do calculations and how to use the selection operator. Everything was done in the online compiler https://repl.it/, so kids without software installed on their computer could try using simple Python commands .

The event participants expressed their desire to participate in Meet and Code events in the future
