Between October 5 and 8, 2020, girls from all over Ukraine joined the Meet and Code events.
For them, "Digital Art for girls" classes were held for mastering programming skills, creating graphic objects and artistic design using digital technologies. All of them worked on their own graphic projects with designer and teacher Lisa Kevkhayan. The aim of the classes was to teach the girls how to use an editor like Adobe Photoshop. They learned simple programs and made their own advertising layouts for the library, engaged with enthusiasm and inspiration. The girls once again proved that the IT world needs girls and is under their control. This is an additional incentive for learning and choosing a modern profession, and new knowledge will be useful in the future.
In order to increase interest in 3D design, develop skills in developing 3D models and talk about modern 3D technologies, an educational online course for teenagers was held from October 19 to 23, 2020 #Пизнајемо_3D_вымир. During the course, the participants got acquainted with the basics of working in the Tinkercad online environment and mastered the basic tools for creating 3D models. They created 3 own 3D models: a rocket, a traffic light and a vehicle. And with the help of the Circuits section, we made a circuit that lights the LEDs: a traffic light and an LED "smiley". During the class, volunteer teachers had the opportunity to see the works of all participants, give their comments, follow the process of completing tasks, and teenagers asked questions and shared their impressions of the educational process. In addition to practical experience, teenagers received important information about development prospects in 3D modeling, and also learned about the variety of areas where the skills of designing and modeling three-dimensional objects are used.
Despite the fact that all events took place online this year, the children were extremely inspired and expressed their desire to participate in Meet and Code events in the future.
The events were implemented by the "Charitable Fund for the Development of the National Library of Ukraine for Children" as part of Code Week on the initiative of Meet and Code. In Ukraine, these events are implemented thanks to the resource center GURT, with the partnership of the TechSoup Europe Global Network, funded by SAP Corporation.
