As a result of the war, many libraries need help with the protection and preservation of book collections and especially rare and valuable collections.
Thanks to a grant provided by the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Zones - ALIPH ("ALIPH") (an international organization of the Federal Council of Switzerland) and on the initiative of the NBU Charitable Development Fund for Children, the project of the National Library of Ukraine for Children "Library for Children" was supported as a guardian of the national cultural heritage".
Grant funds were used to purchase fire-resistant metal cabinets that help store a collection of rare publications and documents; carts for moving and possible evacuation of valuable funds; manual hydraulic stacker for moving oversized boxes with books in case of fire due to shelling or emergency situations, etc.
Awareness of constant dangers in the conditions of war does not make it possible to fully serve the readers. Thanks to funding, library windows are reinforced with impact-resistant (armored) film to protect visitors and interior spaces from the danger of being hit by glass fragments during missile attacks. We are grateful to the ALIPH Foundation for its support in difficult times and hope for further fruitful partnership. This gives us strength to implement plans for the future.
